Here's what shipped to customers during the week of October 5, 2026: 4 product areas, part of the Anyshift Product Updates series.
Slack on-call registration creates alert-only rules
Registering a monitoring bot or user with /register_annie_on_call or @Annie register now sets Annie up to investigate new alerts and incidents from that sender. Follow-ups such as resolved, acknowledged, reassigned, or severity-change messages, along with digests, deploy notices, and chat, no longer trigger an investigation. Rules you have already edited are never overwritten, and registering again does not create duplicates.
Adding a sender from the Annie On-Call Registry on the Slack Configuration page uses the same alert-only default, so Annie no longer responds to every message from a registered sender.
/drop_annie_on_call now unsubscribes the sender and removes the unedited default rules it generated, while keeping any rules you customized. Setup details are in the Slack integration guide.
Slack investigations know their channel and thread
When Annie answers a message in Slack, she now knows which channel and thread it came from. That lets her read what responders already posted in the same thread or channel, so an investigation can start from what your team has already found. Read how Slack alerts turn into investigations in Anyshift root cause analysis.
Exit codes and termination reasons for failed Kubernetes pods
Pods that fail without restarting, such as Kubernetes Job pods and other run-to-completion workloads, now carry the container's termination reason and exit code in your Anyshift graph, for example Error with exit code 1. Before, these pods showed up as Failed with no detail, which could leave an RCA guessing between causes. Annie now reads the actual failure signal when you ask about a failed Job. Fixes in the app, Slack, and annie-cli
Four smaller fixes landed across 3 areas of the product, so everyday answers read cleanly:
- Web app: links in Annie's answers that are not real web or email addresses now render as plain text instead of opening a broken page.
- Web app: retrying a failed turn keeps the original sender and the clean message text.
- Slack: a stray partial first word no longer lingers in a thread when Annie revises how her answer begins.
- annie-cli v0.9.11: text in angle brackets, such as
<To be assigned>, now stays visible in rendered answers instead of disappearing. Upgrade with the Annie CLI install page.
That's the week. Try it in the Anyshift product, see how on-call investigations work, and tell us what it unlocks for your team at app.anyshift.io. Last week's updates are in What shipped, week of September 28.
